Who am I?

My Story

From what I can remember I've always been a creative person. Creating has always come easy to me. Drawing, painting, writing, those are the things that make me happy. Growing up in Winnipeg, I thought the city was ginormous. Car rides from my neighbourhood to downtown felt like forever. But now, at 24 years old, I can see the city — while it's constantly growing— is actually quite small. Everyone is connected; so-and-so knows so-and-so, and they know someone else who knows you. When I graduated high school I was nervous to continue my education in university, but I was certain it was something I wanted to do. I had absolutely no idea what direction I wanted to explore. Medicine? Business? Law? After trying a variety of classes, I realized that memorizing and learning through textbook was not how I thrived. Making huge life decisions is the most challenging decision an 18-year-old has to make, and it’s not easy either; deciding what you want to do for the rest of your life. After many tears and internal dilemmas, I realized I had come too far to stop. Fast forward a handful of years, I now hold my Bachelor’s Degree with a major in English Literature. It is something I am proud to show, something that I persevered for and accomplished. After university, I wasn’t sure how I would continue to expand my learning and my creativity. Thankfully I came across a fantastic program, Creative Communications and Red River College Polytechnic. This is where I thrive. I'm now an Advertising and Marketing major in the best program where I get to showcase my creativity on a daily basis. I'm grateful to continue my passions of creativity and incorporating them into work.
